Underage drinking is a serious health problem among Orange County youth and we are dedicated to preventing and reducing it. Through collaboration with schools, youth community organizations, business members, local law enforcement, parents, and youth, we are working to create a healthier and safer Orange County.

Raising Adult Awareness:
Parents have a profound influence on their children’s lives and often unaware of their risky behaviors.
UDP’s presentation for adults in the community brings awareness to the issue and actions to take for prevention.
Building Capacity with School Staff and Community Leaders:
Deliver trainings to school staff and community leaders on youth development principles as a strategy for preventing underage drinking.
Youth Alcohol Use Prevention Education:
Legal and social consequences of alcohol use.
Media literacy regarding the alcohol industry’s marketing strategies/tactics in promoting alcohol use to youth.
The dangers of alcohol and its consequences on the brain and body.
Resistance and refusal skills that are applicable to all risky behaviors.
Responsible Beverage Service:
Free training for alcohol merchants and their staff.
Merchants receive education on evidence-based practices to reduce underage drinking.
Merchants are recognized for taking action.
