The DFC Program is a funding source for the South Orange County Coalition. It is a community coalition that facilitates members' participation in local alcohol and drug prevention efforts by supporting community activities such as: Town Hall Meetings, Sticker Shock as well as provide training to community agencies. This coalition is comprised of community leaders, parents, youth, teachers, religious groups, service organizations, health care workers, business professionals, law enforcement, media and others working together in Dana Point and Laguna Beach.
The South Orange County Coalition will specifically work to address preventing and reducing underage alcohol use and prescription (Rx)/Over-the-Counter (OTC) drug use, misuse and abuse by youth in Dana Point and Laguna Beach.
The Drug Free Communities (DFC) program is directed by the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, in partnership with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
